Travel is very important to me because it broadens my horizons and teaches me things I wouldn’t learn otherwise – so I’ve made it a big priority in my life.

In the summer of 2023, I set off from a remote town in Scotland and travelled down through Dumfries and Ayrshire – spending three peaceful days immersed in nature. From there, I continued on to the New Forest in southern England – then made my way to Cornwall, where I stayed for nearly a month, connecting deeply with the land and its slower rhythm.

While visiting a public library in a quiet Cornish village, I asked a few friends a question that had been on my mind – should I stay in the UK for winter, or drive to southern Spain? They encouraged me to go for the journey – and by midday on 14th November, I was on a ferry headed for Le Havre, France.

I drove through France – taking a meaningful detour to Orange, a place my dad had once visited when he was younger – before arriving in Perpignan. On the 2nd of December, I crossed into Spain and followed the Mediterranean coastline – passing through the Gulf of Valencia and arriving in Alicante, where I stayed for six days and soaked in the energy of the city.

After Alicante, I continued on to Malaga, then Gibraltar. I took some time to reflect – and decided to start heading north again. That’s when I found the town that resonated with me most.
